Pregnancy and Getting Pregnant

So you have reached that time of your life where you want to have children.  Maybe you’re trying to get pregnant or perhaps you are already pregnant.  Either way I’m sure that you have so many questions that come to mind on a daily basis.  This article will address some of the most common questions for women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant.

Side Effects of Pregnancy

Morning sickness is a very common topic of questions from pregnant women.  Morning sickness is a feeling of nausea that most women experience in their first trimester of pregnancy.  Although it is called morning sickness, it really can occur at any time throughout the day.  There is no great solution which will prevent it completely but there are several things you can do to feel better when you experience it.  Sucking on a peppermint or a ginger candy can help.  You can also try drinking small sips of ginger ale or eating saltines.

Another very common question that women have about pregnancy are about stretch marks. Stretch marks are small light colored lines which appear on your skin during rapid periods of growth.  The best thing you can do is buy revitol stretch mark cream and use it as a preventative measure before the stretch marks appear.  This will increase the elasticity of your skin so that it is able to stretch without scarrign as your baby grows.

Get Better Sleep During Pregnancy

Having been pregnant twice, I can tell you that sleeping, especially in the last trimester, is not always easy.  It is hard to find a comfortable position.  I found using a pillow between my legs worked wonders.  Also, having my husband (willingly!) massage my back just before bed was great.

Perhaps my favorite sleep aid was a hypnobirthing mp3 I found.  Actually, it was not so specific to hypnobirthing, and a bit more general.  It was about 10-15 minutes long, which was just perfect to listen to just before bed.  It really relaxed me and I found my sleep much better once I got this recording.  In fact, I decided hypnosis for childbirth would be well worth looking into.  So for my second pregnancy and birth I tried the Birth Relaxation Kit, which was a full hypnosis program, including 5 hypnosis mp3s, one affirmations mp3, a great fear-resetting guide and almost 2 hours of super-relaxing music, including subliminal messages for a positive birth.  This was all only $79.  I birthed drug-free and have to say it was not very painful on that second go around.  I highly recommend the Kit.

Getting Pregnant

For those of you who are trying to get pregnant, here are a few tips on how to get pregnant fast.  The most important thing is to know your cycle and more specifically, know when you are ovulating.  Some women can tell when they are ovulating by the way their body feels, but if you are not that in tune with your body, you can get over the counter ovulation prediction kits which can be very helpful for knowing when you are ovulating.

Once you know when ovulation is going to occur each month, be sure to have sex once daily for the 5 days leading up to ovulation.  Sperm can live inside the woman’s body for 5 – 7 days so you want to make sure you have as much sperm as possible ready to fertilize that egg when it is released.

Remember that it is always best to consult your doctor before trying any new products or if you are having any trouble.  These tips should help you on your way to getting pregnant and having a happy and healthy pregnancy.  This is one of the most special times in your life and you want it to be as comfortable as possible.
