Classic Favorites: Winnie the Pooh Products
Winnie the Pooh has been a childhood favorite for over eighty years, since he was first introduced in the wonderful AA Milne novel ‘When We Were Very Young’. Since the mid ’50s, when Disney bought the rights to the Winnie the Pooh brand, it has steadily increased in popularity and today Pooh Bear is loved more than ever.
If you’re looking for Winnie the Pooh baby stuff you’ll notice that there are two options of Pooh Bear available. Firstly, there are the ‘Classic Pooh’ items which refers to merchandise which features the original EH Shepard Pooh Bear illustrations from the AA Milne novels. Those products are viewed, by many, as the superior choice because they keep the original ideas and illustrations alive.
Secondly, there’s Disney’s version of Pooh Bear. The Disney version differs in two ways. Firstly, Pooh wears a red sweater and, secondly, he’s a little more rotund around the middle! This Disney version came into existence in the 1950s when Disney bought the rights to Pooh Bear and it is this ‘newer’ version of Pooh that many young children will be familiar with.
Whichever Pooh Bear you like best, one thing is for sure, you won’t be stuck for choice when it comes to choosing products. The number of Pooh Bear items on the market today is simply staggering.
Of course there are the four principle characters themselves i.e. Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore available in a wide range of toys from soft miniatures to large huggable ones. Then, of course, there are a multitude of products adorned with these characters, everything from blankets, soothers, posters, toy cars, footballs, bath toys, train sets and, not forgetting, a whole host of DVDs, from Disney’s first Pooh film feature ‘The Many ‘Adventures of Winnie the Pooh’ to a whole array of modern cartoons and movies.
You shouldn’t have a problem finding stores which stock Winnie the Pooh baby stuff. Most major department stores, along with the majority of baby supplies stores, stock Winnie the Pooh products as do the Disney Stores and almost every toy store across the world.
Look out for discounts too. As new Pooh products come on board, you might find the older products on sale. It’s unlikely that your young child will care if their toy is a 2000 creation or a 2010 one, you might get lucky and save yourself a few dollars.
Happy Pooh Bear hunting. Don’t forget to stock up on honey!
