Choosing Nursery Curtains
Choosing the nursery curtains for your new baby is one of the most exciting parts of preparing for the baby’s birth. You will want to choose curtains that are functional as well as cute. The functional part is that the curtains should be dark enough to keep the light out so baby can sleep well, especially for an afternoon nap. You can still use traditional colors, there are some great pink and blue curtains – but pick fabric that is thick enough that the light will only shine through a bit. In addition, the thicker fabric will help keep the cold out of the room on cool days and will also help keep the heat out in the summer.
You will need to decide on the length of the curtains that you will place on the nursery window. Some people prefer short ones that just cover the window while others like curtains that extend down to the floor. You will have to decide whether or not you think that your baby will pull on the curtains if you choose long ones. There is a chance that the entire curtain rod and curtain could fall on baby if he or she does this. On the other hand, by the time baby can walk, he or she may want to just run around and not be very interested in pulling on them.
The color that you will use for your nursery curtains is another decision that you will have to make. Although pink and blue are classics, many designers are showing nurseries in green, yellow, and neutral colors such as tans and browns. The color choice is yours alone, but you may want to think of the fact that your baby will only be a baby for a short time. You might want to choose colors that are a bit more mature that can be used after baby is a little older. No matter what color you choose, you will want to have curtains that are very special, just as your baby is. After all, babies stay little for such a short time! Choosing just the right curtains for your nursery will make both you and baby very happy since you will be spending a lot of time in this room.
